Salvation was already paid by the blood of Christ. However, to follow Christ is going to cost you everything.
I was listening to a sermon on Sunday and the question that hit me was: What makes you a Christian? The pastor goes on and I’m going to just take the crucial parts that hit me and hopefully hits you.
So what makes you a Christian? A Christian = Follower of Christ. Agree? Yeah, I think that’s obvious. You being baptized doesn’t make you a Christian. You going to church doesn’t make you a Christian. Agreeing with the Bible doesn’t make you a Christian. Giving offering on Sundays doesn’t make you a Christian. Going to McDonald’s doesn’t make you a Big Mac (okay, I don’t know if this analogy works but you get the point…) Being a Christian, a follower of Christ, means you’re fully devoted/committed. Not half-devoted/committed.
Say a guy/girl comes up to you and you both like each other. Possibly want a relationship with this person, right? What if this person only wants to be half committed to you? FORGET IT! You wouldn’t want to marry someone who is half committed to you!
You either love Him or hate Him.
You’re either His friend or enemy.
Luke 14:25-35
You loving Jesus so much is like HATING on everyone else around you; your parents, spouse, brothers/sisters, etc…
It’s going to cost you everything to follow after Him. However, He wants you to really think about it. Don’t hop on the bandwagon. Make a decision for yourself.
This is something I have been struggling with lately. I am a half committed fool. I love the world and what it has to offer. I also love God… or at least I don’t hate Him. He’s just there in the back of my head. God has really been tugging, no not tugging, yanking at my heart to come back to Him.
REQUEST: I give any of the brothers or sisters out there to call me out on my sins when committed and catch me from my falling into temptation. As I pray for you, I ask that you pray for me. Please keep me accountable with love. As my brother Sam Choi has mentioned, we need to be honest with each other so that we may intercede and pray and edify for one another!
