You can’t choose when you are “ready” to want Christ. You can’t wait till you’re ready because no one is ever READY to receive a gift that cannot be fully grasped or earned.

When you say you’re “ready”, it usually means, “I’m done with the sinful part of my life that God wouldn’t like (i.e. I’m bored of it… or I want more out of life.) You tell yourself… “If I do it, I’m gonna do it right.” You wait till you’re READY to be fully dedicated to church or open to anything other than your current life and situation.

I know that you have been hurt by the church and it’s hypocrisy. And by “church” you usually mean your parents who seem like completely different people at church then home and youth pastors who always used guilt trips and fear instead of substance of love and character (gospel).

But you have to know that the bible is clear, that though not prepared and ready to even begin your journey of healing and growth… It’s not about your readiness. If He draws you, He is going to take responsibility till the end. It’s a gift.

So when you’re NOT ready… it’s probably the best time.
